Spirit of the Holidays Dinner Auction Just Around the Corner!

The always entertaining Spirit of the Holidays dinner auction presented by the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Foundation will once again be held at South Beach Grille in Villa Santini Plaza on Tuesday, December 6 starting at 6:00 pm. The event is held to generate money to provide gifts for children in our community and food cards for a nice holiday dinner for their family. Once again there will be terrific prizes to bid on facilitated by auctioneer Mike Joyce of Gulfcoast Coin & Jewelry.

The $25 cost of admission covers a special dinner choice between grilled salmon or South Beach’s ultimate sirloin steak. A portion of the entry fee plus 100% of the money collected all goes for the gifts and food cards which will be delivered by Santa & Mrs. Claus and their firemen elf helpers on a fire truck “sleigh” right before Christmas.

Tickets can be purchased at the Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Red Coconut RV Park, and at Bennett Chiropractic.

Donations can be made through the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce. All monies (100%) go for the cause (no administrative or other costs are applied).

There are also 24 giving trees where a person can take an ornament stating the toy a child desires, purchase that toy, and bring the gift to either the Chamber of Commerce or back to the giving tree and placed under the tree for pick-up.

The Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce 23rd Annual Christmas Boat Parade Will Light Up the Beach on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

The Greater Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Boat Parade will light up Fort Myers Beach on December 3, 2011. The event is
expected to feature 25 to 30 illuminated boats decorated with a dazzling array of animated Christmas scenes and filling the air with Christmas carols. This spectacular night time parade will be led by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus on the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Boat sponsored by Adventures in Paradise. The festive boats will navigate the intracoastal on a two hour journey as thousands of spectators gather at local waterfront restaurants, public areas, and private homes to watch the parade and celebrate the holiday season.

“For me the FortMyers Beach Boat Parade signifies the start of the Christmas season.”, says Dan Eaton, Chairperson for the boat parade. “It is a fun and festive event that brings our community together. It is our Macy’s Parade Fort Myers Beach Style!

The vessels will assemble in front of the docks at Salty Sam’s Marina at 5:45 pm.  At 6:10 the boats will begin to leave Salty Sam’s Marina going past Parrot Key Caribbean Grill and Big Game Waterfront Grill heading northwest rounding the corner in front of Doc Fords and under the
sky bridge. The Parade will travel in and out of the first two channels in Siesta Bay. Then they’ll take the Matanzas Pass channel towards Bowditch Point turning in front of the Pink Shell Resort, passing Nervous Nellies, Matanzas Inn finishing at Salty Sam’s Marina for the Winners Circle Party at Big Game Waterfront Grill.

Salty Sam’s Marina is offering free overnight dockage to all participating boats with advance  registration. Boats will be required to pay for electricity if needed.  Salty Sam’s Marina is located at 2500 Main Street, Fort Myers Beach, Florida. For advance reservations please call 239-463-7333.

Awards will go to the first three (3) places in the following categories.  Power driven vessels up to 26 feet in length, power vessels 26 feet and over and Sailboats.  There is no cost to enter the parade and businesses are encouraged to sponsor a boat.

This year will also include our popular “People’s Choice Award”.  Voting will take place at participating local restaurants including Big Game Waterfront Grill, Parrot Key Caribbean Grill.  Other viewing areas include the fishing piersunder Matanzas Pass, Baywalk Fountain Square, and the Siesta Bay canals.
