Fort Myers Beach Attractions are Plentiful.

Ft. Myers Beach offers everything in a vacation destination – beautiful accommodations, great restaurants, entertainment, shopping and miles of wonderful beach sand. Fort Myers Beach also offers a nice variety of area attractions. From the people watching, shopping and restaurants of Times Square to the sightseeing boat tours and beautiful parks, Fort Myers Beach has entertainment options for everyone in your group.

Here’s a Sampling of Our Many Attractions:

Mound House:
Experience old Florida at Mound House where Estero Island’s oldest standing structure sits on an ancient Calusa Indian Mound. Learn the history, archaeology and ecology of Estero Island. Free admission. Open 10 am – 2 pm Wed. & Sat. October through May. Kayak tours of Estero Bay and Mound Key available, reservations required, fee, Sat. 10 am. Also, dusk to dawn you can walk, bike or picnic on the grounds. 289 Connecticut St. 239-765-0865.

Fort Myers Beach Art Association:
Our purpose is to provide education in the cultural aspects of life on Ft. Myers Beach and its environs; to promote the study, practice and appreciation of art; to hold art exhibitions and programs which are open to the public; and to encourage art instruction of children and junior artists. Ask about current exhibits, the Outdoor Painters group, seasonal class schedules and more. Open 9 am – noon, Wed.-Thu. Located at the corner of Donora and Shell Mound Blvd. 239-463-2980.

Times Square / Old San Carlos Boulevard:
Located next to Lynn Hall Park and the public pier, Times Square is pedestrian mall with a variety of restaurants and shops. Old San Carlos Boulevard offers a Back Bay park, fountain, and waterfront walk. Metered parking available.

Lynn Hall Memorial Park:
This is a public beach with facilities such as parking, picnic tables, barbeque grills, playground equipment and a bathhouse with restrooms. Located near the Sky Bridge, the park also has a free fishing pier with a souvenir store that provides snacks, gifts, and fishing supplies.

Matanzas Pass Preserve / Historic Cottages:
You won’t have to search too long to find plentiful wildlife and native plants as you enjoy hiking the 1.25 miles of trails that wind through beautiful mangroves. Matanzas Pass Preserve is more than forty acres of unspoiled live oak hammock and 4,000 feet of mangrove shoreline. There is also a boardwalk to Back Bay. Located behind the Beach Elementary School at 161 Bay Road. See island history and artifacts in the cottage, 10 am – 2 pm Wed. & Sat. 239-432-0868.

Bowditch Point Park:
At the north end of Estero Island, a peaceful park offers bathrooms, showers and picnic facilities with an extensive boardwalk opening directly on to the beach. A concession stand offers food and beach supplies. Metered parking.

Ostego Bay Marine Science Educational and Research Center:
Ostego Bay provides a live touch tank, educational exhibits (about Florida animal and plant life), aquariums, and a gift shop. Open 10 am – 4 pm Wed. – Fri., 10 am – 1 pm Sat. Located at 718 Fisherman’s Wharf, under the bridge on San Carlos Island in the old Bonita Fish Co. building. 239-765-8101.

All Tours Information Center:
Free reservations and information service. Book fishing charters, Key West boat rides, kayak nature tour trips and more. Booth is in Times Square. 239-765-1636.

Bay Oaks Recreation Center:
A Lee County facility that is open to both residents and visitors. The recreation center is located next to Beach Elementary School at 2731 Oak St. 239-765-4222. Public tennis courts open 7 am – 9 pm. Recreation Center open Mon.-Fri. 10 am – 9 pm, Sat. 10 am – 5 pm, Sun. 10 am – 2 pm.

PlayWorks:
Public playground located between Bay Oaks and Beach Elementary. During school hours, PlayWorks is reserved for school students. It is open to the public after school from 2 pm until sunset and on weekends.

Fort Myers Beach Community Pool:
The community pool includes instructional swimming and Red Cross instruction, water aerobics, lap swimming, competitive swimming. Recreational events, private parties and summer day camps are also available. The site includes a lap pool, a play pool for toddlers and children, a water slide, covered areas and a bath house. The pool is located in front of Bay Oaks. Admission fee. 239-463-5759.

These are just a sampling of the things to do in and near the town of Fort Myers Beach. Of course the main attraction here is still the beach itself with its white sand and calming water.
